Moby is a free personal safety service smartphone app that can let friends, family and others know where you are.

Have you ever needed to meet with someone where you’re unfamiliar with, or at an unfamiliar location? Are there times you want your family & friends to know where you are - just in case - for everyone’s peace of mind? This app is great for real estate agents and appraisers too, especially when you’re out viewing or showing a home.

Moby keeps track of where you are via your GPS, and will text or email friends and family if you haven’t checked in with them for a specified amount of time. Moby also has a paid service, that will notify emergency services for you. It’s just $9.95 per month, or $99.95 per year. It may be a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Currently, Moby is available for Blackberry; and should be available for iPhone, Android and Windows 7 platforms soon.

I read an article today, written by Scott Levitt, of Oakley Signs & Graphics ( http://www.oakleysign.com ) about adding a shield of protection to your Facebook account.

Scott referenced a video on YouTube from LifeHacker.com, that shows you how to quickly implement this safety feature.

Essentially, you log in to your Facebook account, click on Account, Account Settings, and select Account Security. Click on Change link, then select the checkbox for “Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) whenever possible”.
